The IFP in KZN calls on the National Department of Health to speed up
its investigation regarding the servicing of the life-saving Radiography Cancer machines that have been an issue for far too long at Addington Hospital, Durban.
The IFP KZN Health Spokesperson, Ncamisile Nkwanyana MPL, today said, “It is time to put people suffering from cancer first,” she said.
“We call on the National Department of Health and National Treasury to speed up their investigation as the lives of people are being adversely affected due to mismanagement and sheer incompetence,” said Nkwanyana.
“In a report published, it is said that some of the patients are being sent away as the cancer machines are out of order. It is totally unacceptable that government is risking the lives of already vulnerable people,” added Nkwanyana.
“The IFP will continue to put pressure on government until this matter is resolved and if there is no swift action taken will consider asking the National Prosecuting Authority to intervene. We call on all members of the public to join us in our support to maintain pressure on government until this matter is resolved,” she concluded.
