The IFP calls on the KZN Chairperson of Scopa to set as a matter of
urgency a date with NFP leader, Mrs Zanele kaMagwaza-Msibi, to appear
before the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA ) in the KZN
Legislature. Failing this a formal summons must be given for her to
appear.

“As kaMagwaza-Msibi has been appointed Deputy Minister of Science and
Technology we think it vital for her to appear before SCOPA to address
the serious claims of abuse of public funds which were levelled against
Zululand Municipality during her tenure as Zululand District Mayor.
Claims that public funds were used to support the NFP cannot just be
ignored and others should not be held accountable for her decisions,”
said IFP Leader in the KZN Legislature, Mr Blessed Gwala.

“Considering that even the ANCYL, led by former Police Commissioner,
Bheki Cele, staged a protest in Ulundi complaining about corruption and
maladministration in the Zululand District Municipality, it is essential
that the Deputy Minister start her new career without a shadow hanging
over her,” Mr Gwala said.

“We call on Mrs KaMagwaza-Msibi to do the right thing to clear her name
and not to pass the buck,” concluded Mr Gwala.
