NORTHERN CAPE – A 36-year-old suspect is expected to appear before the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court today for corruption.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday, 01 June 2021 by the Hawks Serious Corruption Investigation team following a tipoff regarding an attempt to entice an Immigration Officer.
The suspect allegedly approached the official and offered a R2000 gratification for the release of his niece who was arrested for being in the country illegally. He was arrested soon after he had handed over the R2000 to the official.
