Stellenbosch, South Africa – A feast of international junior tennis will be served in the Boland when Stellenbosch host two successive International Tennis Federation (ITF) tennis tournaments from next week.

The tournament will be played at the Maties Tennis Club at the University of Stellenbosch.

The first of the back to back tournaments, the Curro Junior ITF 1 will start on Monday 18 October with the finals scheduled for Friday 23 October. The second, the Curro Junior ITF 2 will be played from Monday 26 October and the finals on the 30 October. The tournaments are Grade 5 events on the ITF Junior Circuit and players representing over 14 countries will be competing for all-important  junior world ranking points. Entry is free to the public.

Both tournaments will host a qualifying tournament over two days prior to the main draw. The boys singles will have 48 draws with the boys doubles are a 24 draw. The girls singles in both tournaments have 32 draws with the girls doubles 16 draws.

“Curro is delighted to partner with tennis and bring the ITF series to South Africa. This is extremely exciting for all our young tennis stars. For many years, it was just too expensive for South African parents to send their children overseas: The result was that our local stars could not earn any world ranking points. Now they can.

Furthermore, tennis players from overseas will visit The ITF tournaments of SA in numbers because of the attractive exchange rate. This will be great because it provides the SA stars to compete against the world’s best.” says Dr. Chris van der Merwe, Curro’s CEO.
