As June is one of the coldest months in South Africa and also the 20th anniversary of the popular franchise chain, Sandwich Baron, it has decided to celebrate its birthday by rewarding its customers for helping the less fortunate in South Africa. In return for donating a blanket to Sandwich Baron, customers will receive a free Chicken and Mayo on French bread sandwich. The promotion runs for the full month of June across all stores, nationwide.

Founded by Sally J’Arlette-Joy in the kitchen of her Alberton home, Sandwich Baron has grown from one to 51 stores in the last 20 years, making it the country’s largest sandwich franchisor. It satisfies mostly weekday breakfast and lunch trade and its free delivery option, affordable prices and undeniably delicious and fresh fillings hit the spot for busy executives in need of a quick working lunch.

“Our success is attributed to our loyal patrons and our hard working franchisees. We are very grateful to have grown and experienced so much success over the last twenty years that we felt strongly it was important to give back,” says Sally.

“As such we wanted to ensure a little warmth for humans and animals alike and we’re therefore calling on all our loyal patrons to spare a thought for the homeless or destitute and participate in our blanket drive. All customers who hand over a blanket to our delivery driver or hand one in at any one of our nationwide stores will receive a free chicken mayonnaise sub. As many of our customers order from their offices for delivery, we encourage them to get their colleagues involved too, lunch is on us!”

The blankets will be donated to the Salvation Army.

Sandwich Baron has been in business for two decades showing that “the proof is in the sandwich.” It has over 200 menu items made up of sandwiches, French rolls and foot longs. Platters, salads and baked potatoes are also available for breakfast and lunch.

The franchise recently also added a range of banting breakfasts and lunches to satisfy the no-carb eaters, which includes banting lunch boxes of strips, burgers, soups, or chicken livers and breakfast box options with bacon and eggs or omelets.
