Pretoria : 4 March 2016 – The National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (NATJOINTS) has a put plan in place to ensure that people are and feel safe to register for the Local Government Elections.
This weekend, 5 and 6 March 2016, between 8am and 5pm on each day, has been declared as voter registration periods.
The NATJOINTS is confident that all the necessary security measures are in place for this weekend’s voter registration process to run smoothly and efficiently. Security officials deployed for this purpose have all been briefed about their roles and responsibilities for this purpose.
The NATJOINTS has been working closely with the Independent Electoral Commission during the preparatory period to ensure that all requirements are in place to meet the security needs of the people wanting to register to vote.
The registration process will be monitored very closely from both the Provincial JOINTS as well as the National JOINTS levels and, where required, the necessary support will be provided.
