Cricket South Africa, The Castle Lager Proteas and The Gift of the Givers have teamed up ahead of the first Momentum ODI against England in Bloemfontein on Wednesday and are appealing to fans to contribute to a worthy cause by donating drinking water.

Certain parts of the country are experiencing drought and extreme water shortages.

Areas in the Free State Province have not been spared either and with the first ODI scheduled for Bloemfontein on Wednesday, the Gift of the Givers have set up a special collection point at the Mangaung Oval.

There will be trucks at the ground to transport the water to those in need.

Fans are thus urged to play their part and contribute by bringing water to the stadium and join the Proteas in donating water to a needy cause.

“We’ve seen the efforts from South Africans all over the country assisting and donating water to areas that need it the most, and we too realize that we can play our part in creating awareness around this very serious issue,” said CSA Head of Media and Communication, Altaaf Kazi.

“We would like to see as many fans as possible joining the Proteas in bringing water to the Mangaung Oval on match day.”

“Teaming up with Gift of the Givers, allows us to reach the affected areas in the Free State Province and we are extremely grateful for their offer to assist in transporting the water,” concluded Kazi.
