Johannesburg, South Africa – A feast of international junior tennis will be served in Gauteng when Johannesburg and Pretoria host two International Tennis Federation (ITF) tennis tournaments from Saturday.

The first of the back to back tournaments, The Wanderers ITF will start on Saturday 19th July with the finals scheduled for Friday 25th July and will be played at The Wanderers Tennis Club in Illovo, Johannesburg. The second, the Gauteng North Junior ITF will be played from 26th July to 1st August at the Groenkloof Tennis Stadium in Pretoria. Both tournaments are Grade 4 events on the International Tennis Federation’s Junior Circuit.

Junior tennis players from 35 countries are expected to jet into South Africa to participate in these two tournaments.

Gavin Crookes, President of Tennis South Africa (TSA) said that his Association warmly welcomed the international and local players to the country for both events. “A lot of preparation has gone into making both tournaments a great success and enjoyable experience for especially our international players. TSA are delighted with the large international representation. This indicates that the internationals are happy with our facilities and South Africa remains an attractive destination.”

Both tournaments will host a qualifying tournament with the singles main draw for both boys and girls being a 32 draw and the doubles main draw a 16 team draw.

Qualifying sign in for The Wanderers ITF will take place on Friday 18th July at The Wanderers Tennis Club with the qualifying sign in for the Gauteng North Junior ITF taking place Friday 25th July at the Groenkloof Tennis Stadium. Both qualifying sign in’s open from 16h00 and close at 18h00 on their respective dates.

There is no entry fee for spectators and play is scheduled to start each day at 10h00.
