Kimberley- Henry Coetzee, a 61-year-old practising attorney, has pleaded guilty on 33 charges including fraud, theft and money laundering and his sentence will be handed down by the Kimberley Regional Court on 04 April 2017.

Coetzee was practising in Kimberly between March 2001 and November 2010 when he embezzled almost 4 million rand from various victims whom he represented on their property purchases, civil matters and road accident fund claims. He was served with court summons and first appeared on 18 November 2016.

The guilty verdict was welcomed by the Northern Cape Hawks Provincial Head, Major General Kholekile Galawe who said Hawks members work tirelessly to investigating matters with the sole aim of bringing justice to victims of crimes. “We welcome the guilty verdict and we also believe that the sentence will match the crimes that the convicted attorney committed”, concluded Major General Galalwe.
