NORTH WEST – Daniel Johannes Horn (33) has been sentenced to a seven-year prison term after he was found guilty of fraud by the Zeerust Regional Court on 22 February 2017.
Horn was first arrested on 19 July 2009 after he masqueraded as an employee from a certain firm in Zeerust and went into the bank, collected a cheque book and managed to cash out an amount of R138 000. His case was provisionally withdrawn in 2009 but the Hawks investigated further, leading to his re-arrest on the same matter in August 2015.
Since his re-arrest the Hawks successfully managed to keep him behind bars until his sentencing. The Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation in North West Major General Linda Mbana praise her investigator who persistently pursued the matter and gathered enough evidence and ensure that justice prevailed.
