EASTERN CAPE – Omari Shari (26) foreign national was denied bail by East London Magistrate court on 18 May 2021 after his arrest on the very same day on alleged several counts of dealing in drugs.
The East London Serious Organised Crime Investigation team of the Hawks and Criminal Investigation Gathering Mdantsane cluster, executed an operation after an allegation that a foreign national was selling dagga to the school children and other community members from his shop in Greenfields.
It is alleged that three purchases of dagga were made successfully on different dates from two suspects on the venue of which one is still on the run. The search and arrest was effected on 18 May 2021 and culminated into a court appearance. The accused was denied bail and remanded in custody as he does not have necessary papers that allow him to be in the country. He is therefore deemed a flight risk.
The matter is remanded for the 1st of June 2021for further bail application.
