WESTERN CAPE – A foreign, Abdurahman Rashid (45) received hefty fines and suspended sentence in the Cape Town Magistrate Court today for abalone poaching. On 11 November 2020 , Rashid was found in possession of Abalone worth more than R2 million . Rashid entered into a plea and sentencing agreement with the state yesterday.

The court sentenced him on 5 counts, of which 1-4 he is fined a total of R12 000-00 or be jailed for a total of 12 months and count 5 he is fined R1000-00 or Two (2) months imprisonment then the court ordered that the sentence on count 5 is to run concurrently with sentence of count 1 to 4.
