EASTERN CAPE- A 29-year-old suspect together with his presumed accomplices, Sandisile Ntsikithi (25) and Ayanda Tutu (38) are appearing in the Mthatha Magistrate’s Court today, 6 August 2021 for bail application. The trio was apprehended for allegations of police murder and armed robbery. The 29-year-old suspect was arrested yesterday, 5 August 2021 while Tutu and Ntsikithi were arrested on 20 and 30 July 2021 respectively.
It is alleged that on 18 June 2021 at about 18:30, Sergeant Mphakameli Mazinywana (48) was fatally wounded by two gunmen in his residence at Old Payne Location in Mthatha. Suspects fled with his service pistol.
In a joint venture, the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team, Gqeberha Tactical Response Team and Flying Squad effected the arrests. Tutu and Ntsikithi made their first appearances on their respective arrest dates but were remanded in custody ever since.
