Bloemfontein – Justice Mahomed Solomon Navsa of the Supreme Court of Appeal dismissed President Jacob Zuma’s application to prevent the release of taped recordings with costs. The recordings will now be handed over to the Democratic Alliance.
In response to the ruling the National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson, Nathi-Mncube said that: “The National Prosecuting Authority has noted the judgement of the Supreme Court of Appeal delivered in Bloemfontein today. The NPA further notes that it has been given 5 days within which to implement the order.”
“It is important to mention that NPA stated throughout the applications its commitment to abide by the order of the court, and only sought clarity on some key legal principles. Now that such clarity has been achieved through the ensuing court processes, the NPA will diligently and swiftly implement the order of the court”
“NPA is a constitutional institution that upholds the rule of law, and understands the serious consequences of failing to comply with a court order.”
