NORTH WEST – Gavinn Katz (27) made a brief appearance before the Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court this afternoon, following his arrest on Friday for fraud worth approximately R7million.
The accused who is a director of a transport business was arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation in Sandton.
It is alleged that Katz sold six vehicles to a client and allegedly failed to deliver them as agreed. When the matter was reported to the police it was allegedly discovered that the vehicles in question had already been sold to a local car dealership.
Further probing allegedly also revealed that four of the six vehicles in question had Vin numbers that do not exist.
The accused was released on R60 000 bail and the matter was postponed to 14 May 2021 for further investigation.
