On Tuesday, 20 September 2016, H.E. Mr François Hollande, President of France, and H.E. Mr Jacob Zuma, President of South Africa, will present the report of the High-Level Commission on Health Employment and Economic Growth to United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at a side event during the UN General Assembly in New York.

The report will include recommendations for world leaders to ensure that all countries have a health workforce capable of meeting the health needs of the 21st-century, and to enable countries to maximise the economic benefits that health sector employment generates.

The Commission was established by Secretary-General Ban in March 2016, and is being chaired by Presidents Hollande and Zuma, and vice-chaired by the World Health Organization, the International Labour Organisation, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. In addition to statements by Presidents Hollande and Zuma, speakers will include:
Prof Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate
Dr Joanne Liu, International President, Médecins Sans Frontières

Mr Guy Ryder, Director-General, International Labour Organisation
…and a musical performance by Ms Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Princess of Africa.
