In meticulously carried out pre-dawn raids on Friday morning, Members from the Hawks in the Western Cape in the company of SAPS’ Tactical Response Team (TRT) and Flying Squad, arrested six (6) suspects aged between 32 and 48, amongst them a female branch manager for their alleged role in a bank robbery that took place in Kuilsrivier during 2014.
In true hawk-like demeanour, following multifaceted investigations members attached to the HAWKS’ Serious and Violent Crime Unit with their counterparts flocked together and raided several addresses around Athlone, in the Cape Flats, in pursuit of the sought suspects.
It is alleged that during the morning of 2014-11-12 an unknown number of armed suspects forced their way into the local bank premises with the incoming staff in Kuilsrivier, held them hostage before they fled with over R500 000 in cash.
These arrests come in the wake of sleepless nights put in by the members in ensuring that those responsible for the said crime, get to face the consequences of their actions. We hope this serves as a warning to those who have, or plan to commit crime that, we will never be outwitted by criminals.
They are expected to appear in the Kuilsrivier Magistrate’s Court on Monday the 19th-09-2016 to face charges relating to armed robbery with aggravating circumstances. Investigations continues.
