Pretoria: 5 July 2017 – The South African Police Service has taken note of the High Court Judgement handed down yesterday in the matter of SA Hunters and Game Conservation Association.
The SAPS is studying this judgement, as it has fifteen court days within which to do so and to consider a way forward.
In the meantime the South African Police Service will retain all firearms surrendered to the police by people that have failed to renew their licenses in accordance with the Firearms Control Act.
Furthermore no prosecutions will be instituted against those concerned and none of these firearms will be destroyed during this period.
