Pretoria – All eyes will be on the North Gauteng High Court this morning as Judge Thokozile Masipa delivers the much-anticipated judgement in the Oscar Pistorius murder trial.
After 41 days of court proceedings, which saw 37 witnesses and lengthy closing arguments from both the state and defence, Judge Masipa will begin her verdict at 9:30am.
The Blade runner – as Pistorius is famously known – faces a pre-meditated murder charge as well as three weapons charges for killing his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkap on Valentine’s Day, last year.
Pistorius has pleaded not guilty to the four charges.
The state has argued that Pistorius and Steenkamp fought during the night, before he shot her through a locked toilet door.
The defence team has, on the other hand, said that Pistorius mistook her for an intruder.
The trial has seen several neighbours of Pistorius testifying, while Pistorius was also sent for a 30-day psychiatric evaluation after a forensic psychiatrist suggested that he suffered from Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD).
