“Gwede Mantashe’s ‘ban’ on ANC members from visiting Israel is far fetched and is probably the most direct expression of ANC’s support for Palestinian terrorism,” says Christian Democratic Party leader, Rev. Theunis Botha.
“In a region where dictatorships and religious extremism flourish, Israel is a clear ‘beacon of exception’ with a western style democracy. Still, the ANC prefers to support organisations listed as ‘terrorist organisations’.
This week Jordanian based Arab Bank received a hefty fine in a US court for paying out benefits to Hamas supporters.
“The ANC has lead South Africa into the most bizarre international choices, with a recent vote against condemning the IS terrorist activities, a clear example thereof. We regard Mantashe’s call on ANC members in the same context, which ‘does not bode well for how the ANC may in future limit the choices, or even prescribe the choices of other South Africans.”
