WESTERN CAPE: A couple aged 53 and 55 respectively are expected to appear before the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on the 1 September 2017 for alleged income tax fraud.
The duo, directors of several companies, allegedly submitted false claims to the South African Receive of Revenue (SARS) during 2007 to 2009.
The suspects were arrested on Thursday the 10th of August by the Serious Commercial Crime Unit of the Hawks after investigations uncovered that the suspects unlawful actions resulted in SARS losing approximately R1 million. Possibilities of more losses being uncovered as investigations intensifies have not been ruled out.
