MPUMALANGA – Skhumbuzo Asquith Mohlaba (45), was released on a warning by the Acornhoek Magistrate’s Court today after he was arrested by members of the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation unit on Tuesday for allegedly practising as an optometrist without a valid operating license.

Mohlala continued to render services to the public of Acornhoek and surrounding areas despite that his practising license expired on the 2nd of November 2018, which is in contravention of the Health Professions Council of South Africa Act (HPCSA).

Hawks’ investigation has further established that Mohlala issued several eye test report certificates to unqualified applicants of driving and learners licences for a fee.

The case has been postponed to the 28th of August 2019 pending further investigation.
