Two men aged 25 and 32 years, who allegedly stabbed and killed a police constable Johannes Putsoeli (37) in Botshabelo will appear before the Botshabelo Magistrate’s Court Magistrate’s Court on Monday following their arrest by the Hawks and Tactical Response Team (TRT) in the early hours of Friday morning.

In February 2016, Constable Putsoeli’s lifeless was found at open field near Keizer Sebothelo Stadium in Botshabelo, with a stab wound in his upper body. He was robbed of his service pistol and cellphone as well as his wallet. The slain officer was stationed at Botshabelo Detective Services.

The suspects will face charges of murder and robbery. The search for other suspects is still underway.

The National Head of the Hawks Lieutenant General Mthandazo Ntlemeza applauded the officers who worked tirelessly to bring justice to the family of the slain cop. He said Hawks’ claws are out for those who threaten the security of the country by waging war against police officers.

“We are proud of our members and TRT officers who put their lives on the line to bring police killers to book. We shall never rest until every single suspect in the cases relating to the killing of police officers is removed from society and brought to justice”, concluded Lieutenant General Ntlemeza.
