“We call on government not to sever diplomatic ties with Israel,” says Christian Democratic Party (CDP) leader, Rev. Theunis Botha.
“Hamas is on the USA’s list of terrorist organisations for a reason. The atrocities perpetrated by them are well known all over the world, and to abort diplomatic ties with an internationally recognised nation in favour of a terrorist organisation is unthinkable.
“The CDP calls on all parties involved in the conflict to work hard to find a constitutionally sound solution. We realise that the situation is complex, and that no easy solutions are at hand. But we know that firing rockets into residential areas whilst making use of their own innocent people as human shields, does not contribute to finding a solution of any kind.”
“For the ANC government, now stirred by emotions, of the past to make irrational decisions will benefit no one.”
