AN ALLEGED FAUX GEMSTONE DEALER ARRESTED

EASTERN CAPE – A 46 years old suspect is expected to appear in the New Law court this morning following his arrest by the Gqeberha Serious Organised Crime Investigation team of the Hawks on 2 July 2021 for allegations of dealing in faux gemstones.
It is alleged that on 09 and 10 March 2021, the victim was defrauded by the suspect who sold to him fake gemstones to the value of R40 000. It is reported that the suspect forms part of a syndicate in Gqeberha that targets innocent unexpecting individuals by enticing them to either buy or be part of the notorious syndicate.
The victim reported the matter to the Hawks in Gqeberha. The suspect was spotted on Friday, 02 July 2021 and he was immediately arrested.
