KWAZULU-NATAL – On Monday, 12 April 2021 Hawks members from Durban Serious Corruption Investigation arrested Pragasen Pillay (68) for fraud which happened in Pietermaritzburg.
Pillay allegedly defrauded the Department of Public Works by entering into a lease agreement to provide nineteen undercover parking for the South African Police Service in Pietermaritzburg. The lease was for five years and he only provided six parking and still claimed for nineteen. Pillay allegedly claimed R15 260 689.00.
He briefly appeared in the Durban Specialised Commercial Crime Court and was released on bail of R5000.00. The case was postponed to 7 May 2021.
