The Inkatha Freedom Party sends its heartiest congratulations to its former
Chief Whip in Parliament, now retired, Mr JH van der Merwe.
Van der Merwe, 76, who served as the IFP Chief Whip since 1994 and as an MP
for 37 years, receives his doctorate in Political Sciences from the
University of Free State later today.
Ms Sibongile Nkomo, MP and IFP Secretary-General said ,”Our former
parliamentary Chief Whip, Mr JH van der Merwe, continues to be an example to
us all of what hard work and tenacity of spirit can accomplish. We
congratulate him on this very fine achievement.”
