Girl’s top seed, Maxine Bateman of South Africa ended unseeded Cara O’Flaherty of Gauteng Central impressive run at the ITF Wanderers international junior tournament in Johannesburg on Thursday. Bateman of Umhlali in Kwa-Zulu Natal beat O’Flaherty 6-3 6-1 in the semi-finals to earn her spot in Friday’s final against fifth seeded compatriot Minette Van Vreden at the Wanderers Sporting Club.

South African sixth seed, Philip Henning won through to the boys semi-finals of the ITF Wanderers international junior tournament being played at the Wanderers Sporting Club in Johannesburg. Henning of Bloemfontein upset compatriot and second seed Richard Thongoana of Johannesburg 6-3 7-5 in the quarterfinals on Thursday. Henning will now play fellow South African, Sipho Montsi, the fourth seed, in Friday’s semi-final.
