POLOKWANE: 31 July 2021- A 29-year-old suspect is expected to appear in Namakgale Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 02 August 2021 in connection with the gang-rape of an 11 year old girl on Wednesday 28 July 2021 at Majeje village in the Namakgale policing area outside Phalaborwa. Two other suspects are still being sought.
The incident reportedly took place at around 15: 00 in the afternoon. The victim allegedly came back from school crying, with visible injuries and informed her mother that the suspect, whom she knows together with his two friends, met her on the road and they dragged her to the nearby graveyard. They then assaulted her and thereafter took turns in raping her. The perpetrators then fled the scene.
The matter was reported to the police, a case of rape was opened and later transferred to Phalaborwa Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit. The initial investigations and search operation for the suspect were immediately activated.
The suspect was arrested yesterday at home in Majeje village.

Meanwhile the police in Senwabarwana in the Capricorn District are still looking for the suspect(s) responsible for the murder of a 23 year old woman, Thapelo Sabatha who was found severely assaulted and lying on the road next to Helen Frantz hospital on Wednesday 28 July 2021. The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has condemned these incidents and has ordered that the suspects must be hunted down and brought to book.
