Suspect arrested in connection to Reiger Park shooting
Germiston – Gauteng police have arrested a man suspected of kidnapping and murdering three-year-old Cuburne Lavone van Wyk.
The suspect was arrested in Germiston on Wednesday by metro police officers.
Cuburne’s partially burnt body was found in a mine dump in Reiger Park on Saturday afternoon.
The toddler from Ramaphosa informal settlement, in Reiger Park, went missing last Wednesday while playing with his siblings. The suspect will appear in court soon.
Meanwhile, the case against the two accused in shooting of three-year-old Luke Tibbetts has been postponed to 29 August by the Westbury Magistrate’s Court. The two have been denied bail.
Luke died last Friday after being on life support for several days. He was shot in the head by a stray bullet on the corner of Statler and Croesus streets.
Both provincial government and the Police Ministry have voiced their frustration at the killing of children and the levels of crime in the country.
