Tuesday, 06 December 2016, Johannesburg, South Africa. – Wheelchair Tennis South Africa commends the federation’s General Manager, Karen Losch who was hugely honoured in Managung when crowned the Administrator of the year at the 11th SA Sports Awards Ceremony held on Sunday, 27 November at the Sand du Plessis Theatre in Bloemfontein.
This prestigious award recognizes the major contribution that Losch has made to the long-term success of the association; in which she has played a vital role. Unknown to many, but Losch has been a driving force of the organization for over eight years and unsung hero in the world of sport.
The 46-year-old who scooped the same accolade at Silver Star Casino in Mogale City in October when Gauteng celebrated the outstanding achievements of sportsmen and sportswomen came out ahead of Robin de Kock (Surfing) and Virginia Mabaso from Rowing.
Losch has been the woman behind the running of the association and tournaments where she is involved in all aspects to organize and manage international tournaments. South Africa today hosts six tournaments on the UNIQLO World Wheelchair Tennis Tour including one of only 6 Super Series (Premier events) offered each year.
It is through the eminent Losch that today the federation has five players ranked in the top 13 globally, has an astonishing 70 plus players on the world ranking and has over 600 active players in South Africa and more than 50 centres and schools offering wheelchair tennis coaching nationwide.
