NORTH WEST – Thapelo Leonard Seabo (51) made a brief appearance before the Taung Magistrate’s Court after being summoned for attempting to defraud the Road Accident Fund (RAF) of approximately R900 000.
Following the death of his wife in a motor vehicle accident, the accused allegedly submitted fraudulent documents to RAF which stated that his deceased wife was the bread winner of the family. He alleged that as a result of her passing, they suffered loss of financial support and submitted a claim to the tune of R900 000.
Investigations were conducted and it was discovered that the deceased was unemployed and not the bread winner of the family as alleged.
The matter was postponed to 18 August 2021 for Regional court appearance.
