Johannesburg – Segundo Melendez Damacina, a 40-year-old man was remanded in custody by the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Thursday following his arrest on Wednesday, 05 April 2017.
The Hawks members at the O.R Tambo International Airport followed up on information about a passenger who was flying from Sao Paulo, Brazil to Maputo, Mozambique via South Africa. When the man landed at the O.R Tambo International Airport his luggage was searched and 7kg of cocaine was found concealed inside soft drink containers, wrapped with a foil.
The value of the loot is estimated at the street value of R2 million. Damacina will be back in the dock on 13 April 2017 when he will make a formal bid for bail.
