FREE STATE – The accused Madraai Edson Luvhimbi (52) appeared before the Harrismith Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 20 August 2021 where he faced charges of corruption. He was arrested in Pretoria by the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation team based in Bethlehem on Thursday,19 August 2021.
It is alleged that on Tuesday, 27 October 2020, Luvhimbi a Warrant Officer based at Training Division Pretoria stayed at a guest house in Harrismith for official duties where he paid R630 per night. On Monday, 02 November 2020 he submitted a fraudulent claim of R950 per night instead of R630 per night that he paid.
The matter was then reported to the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation in Bethlehem for further investigation culminating to the arrest of Luvhimbi.
The case against Luvhimbi has been remanded to Friday, 08 October 2021 and the accused was released on R2000 bail.
