MPUMALANGA: A 39-year-old Mathews Vilakazi was found guilty and convicted for dealing in drugs(cannabis) by the Carolina Magistrate Court on Friday 21 April 2017. The accused was sentenced to four years imprisonment which is suspended for four years on condition the accused is not found guilty of the same offence.

Furthermore the accused was fined R70 000.00 or two years imprisonment and his motor vehicle, a Toyota double cab 4×4, valued at R100 000 was forfeited to the state.

On Thursday, 28 July 2016 members of the Hawks Mpumalanga received an information about a man from one of the neighbouring countries who entered South Africa with Cannabis. The Hawks followed the information which led to the arrest of Vilakazi who was found in possession of 300kg of Cannabis with an estimated street value of R700 000.00 which was subsequently seized together with his car.
