GAUTENG – Three suspects, Ntokozo Cyril Ndlovu (41), Mzwandile Ezra Mnisi (38), and Mandla Michael Zwane (35) have been remanded in custody by the Heidelberg Magistrates Court on Monday for tempering and damaging a Transnet fuel pipeline.

The Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation from the Vaal Rand, Crime Intelligence and Fidelity Security Agency responded on information regarding suspects who were reportedly tempering with the Transnet fuel pipeline at Suikerbos in Heidelberg on Friday. Investigation steered the team to a site where the suspects had kept various equipment which were used to temper with the fuel pipeline.

The team managed to arrest the three suspects whilst one managed to flee from the scene. His whereabouts are being sought. A VW Golf and a VW Caddy as well as the equipment which was allegedly used to damage the fuel pipeline were confiscated. The overall loss on the fuel pipeline damaged has not been determined.

The three Ndlovu, Mnisi and Zwane are facing charges of tempering and damaging essential infrastructure. They are expected in the same court on Thursday, 13 February 2020 for a formal bail application and further investigations.
