Newly crowned US Open champions, Stan Wawrinka and Angelique Kerber started their successful professional tennis careers playing the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior Circuit.
The ITF Junior Circuit, played around the world in over 124 countries, is the most prestigious junior tennis circuit on the planet.
Next week the circuit comes to South Africa and Stellenbosch will host two back to back tournaments namely the Curro Junior ITF 1 & 2 at the Maties Tennis Club on the Coetzenberg Sports Ground, University of Stellenbosch.
Both tournaments will have a boys and girls 18 and under singles and doubles draw each with a qualifying event two days prior to the tournament proper.
The Curro Junior ITF 1 will be played from 19-24 September with the Curro Junior ITF 2 from 26 September – 1 October.
Junior players from 12 countries including South Africa will participate in the two week-long event. Players from Austria, Botswana, France, Great Britain, Hungary, Kenya, Namibia, Netherlands, Sweden USA, and Zimbabwe have arrived in Stellenbosch preparing for both events.
Public are encouraged to support the event and watch the future tennis stars in action. Entrance is free.
