GAUTENG – A 47-year-old man is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on charges of fraud and corruption on 25 February 2021 after he was served with court summonses on Thursday.
The Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation emanated from the Auditor General’s findings that unearthed fraudulent transactions from 2014 to 2017 in the Gauteng Department of Human Settlements.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly created fraudulent invoices on funds due to house owners who settled their bond repayments. He then replaced the said beneficiaries’ bank accounts with his own thereby unduly benefiting approximately R80 000 over several transactions.
