CASH-IN-TRANSIT KINGPIN NABBED IN KWAMASHU

KwaZulu-Natal – A joint operation by the members of the Hawks, Crime Intelligence, Task Force and Durban K9 unit resulted in the arrest of the most wanted and dangerous suspect in Kwamashu on Tuesday night.

The 36-year-old suspect, who has been positively linked with the murder of a 51-year-old police at Gingindlovu in November 2015, was also sought for a series of cases including cash in transit, murder and attempted murder in KwaZulu-Natal. He was found in possession of three AK47, two 9mm pistols, three AK47 magazines, four 9mm magazines, and more than 350 live rounds of ammunition for different firearms.

The man’s 28-year-old girlfriend was also arrested during the operation. The two will be charged for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

The recovered firearms will be sent for ballistic testing to ascertain if they were used in the commission of crime in the country.

The suspects will appear before the Ntuzuma Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
