NORTHERN CAPE – A 58 year old traffic official from Gasegonyane local municipality is expected to appear before Kuruman Magistrate Court on charges of attempted extortion and alternatively abuse of power .
It is alleged that during May 2020, the traffic officer by virtue of his position, confiscated the complainant’s drivers license and instructed him to fix his vehicle’s damaged windscreen in order for him to get his driver’s license back.
The matter was reported to the Hawks Serious Organised Crime for investigation. The suspect was served with summons to appear before Kuruman Magistrate court on Monday, 07 December 2020.
