CAPE TOWN – The Hawks’ National Bureau for illegal Firearms Control and Priority Violent Crime Unit (NBIFCPVC), followed-up on leads and arrested Thulani Mili (29), on Saturday, October, 14th following an alleged cash in transit heist at a Total Garage in Lentegeur last week Friday.
At around 12:00 a G4S cash truck arrived at the garage in Highlands Drive to collect money and about four suspects allegedly confronted and threatened the guards with firearms before robbing them of undisclosed amount of cash and one firearm.
One guard was shot and wounded during the skirmish and so was one suspect, when the guards returned fire before the suspects fled the scene using a waiting get-away vehicle, which was reported stolen in Brackenfell area in September 2017.
Members of the Hawks immediately launched a manhunt for the suspects which resulted in Mili being traced to a local hospital where he had been admitted for gunshot wounds treatment.
Mili has since appeared in absentia at Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court owing to his reported injuries. He is expected back in court on October, 23rd to face charges related to armed robbery with aggravating circumstances.
Meanwhile the Hawks’ Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB), arrested two suspects aged 39 and 57 in the wake of a search a seizure operation that was conducted at Mountain View Horse Trails Farm, in Philadelphia.
The operation resulted in the discovery of a clandestine narcotics laboratory, with equipment and chemicals as well as cannabis valued at nearly R50-000. They are expected to appear before the Atlantis Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 19th October 2017 to face charges related to drug dealing.
