The Organised Crime wing of the Hawks in Middelburg and Secunda, Mpumalanga together with Ermelo Crime intelligence officers have arrested a Cape Town man with 38 bags of heroine, valued at R38 million on Wednesday.
The officers were acting on information about a vehicle which had smuggled the drugs through the Oshoek Port of Entry. The 33-year-old man was stopped at Middelburg and the drugs were found inside his vehicle.
He will appear before the Middelburg Magistrate’s Court today (Thursday), facing charges of dealing in drugs.
Meanwhile seven suspects, aged between 22 and 55 years were caught in the act of packaging heroine to the tune of R225 000 at Savannah Park near Marianhill, KwaZulu-Natal on Wednesday night.
The Hawks, Chatsworth Crime Intelligence and the Showeni K9 unit members had embarked on an operation which was aimed at ridding the area of drug dealers.
The suspects will appear before the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
