The Inkatha Freedom Party is celebrating after winning two fiercely contested by-elections at Vryheid and Indaka this Wednesday.

“The election results showed that the IFP, with its limited resources, could defeat the ANC and the NFP. It certainly is sweet victory considering all the resources and time that the ANC invested in these wards even to the extent of using state resources,” said IFP National Chairperson, Mr Blessed Gwala.

“Voters demonstrated their unshakable confidence in the IFP in 2 out of 3 of the contested wards in KZN. These results reaffirm the confidence and faith that people of KZN have in the IFP and its leadership. We extend our gratitude to all those who came out in their numbers to vote for the IFP as this demonstrates a continuous show of rising confidence in the party. We wish the newly elected councillors success as they work in improving the lives of our people,” continued Mr Gwala.

“In thanking all those who went to cast their votes for the IFP, we call on them to continue to mobilise support for the IFP so that we can bring effective service delivery and clean governance to all municipalities through the 2016 Local Government Elections. The power is in your hands, exercise it through your vote” concluded Mr Gwala.
