EFF radicalism sets bad example-CDP
“Statements such as ‘we will die for Malema’ reflects the kind of radicalism the country can well do without,” says Rev. Theunis Botha, leader of the Christian Democratic Party (CDP).
Botha referred to statements from some of those holding a night vigil ahead of the trial of Julius Malema, leader of the EFF.
“Earlier Malema himself said he was prepared ‘kill for Zuma,’ which he was clearly not prepared to do as he did not fall onto his political sword when their paths separated.
“South Africa really does not need a radicalism resembling anything like that of the Islamic State. This sort of radicalism does not belong in a Democratic society.
“The EFF must now leave matters in the hands of the court to decide, through proper judicial processes, whether Malema is guilty of wrongdoing and if so he ‘must pay back the money’ in whatever form the court decides.
“We remind the ANC that justice must be seen to be done even-handedly and that their own members as well as their own leader are treated equally before the law.”

“Suid-Afrika kan werklik nie die soort radikalisme bekostig wat klink na die Islam Staat nie. Die EFF moet sake nou in die hande van die hof laat om deur behoorlike regsprosesse oor Malema sy skuld te beslis, en indien wel, of hy ook ‘must pay back the money’ of enige ander gepaste vonnis.
“Ons doen ‘n beroep op die ANC om die ewehandige uitmeet van geregtigheid na te streef, sodat sy lede en selfs die leier van die ANC soos gelykes voor die hof behandel word. “
