WESTERN CAPE – Cammila De Waal Rossouw (32) appeared at Cape Town High Court on for sentencing on Friday.
This follows her conviction handed down by the same court on the 28 0ctober 2020. She pleaded guilty on an array of 11 charges which included kidnapping a minor, trafficking in person for sexual purposes , assault, keeping of a brothel , living on the proceeds of prostitution and extortion involving over R3 million.
This is also a mile stone case of Trafficking in Persons conviction that includes prevention of Organised Crime Act , as she was also charged with racketeering along several other suspects. Rossouw was sentenced to ten (10) years, wholly suspended for five years with stringent conditions.
She was the tenth suspect sentenced for her involvement on the syndicate that ran a brothel in Millerton, Table View, Big Bay and Bellville in the Western Cape.
The syndicate recruited young females (as well as minors) to be groomed and sexually exploited. The victims were all deprived of their freedom, assaulted and forced to partake in criminal activities such as shoplifting, housebreaking and extortion. She was arrested with her co-accused in February 2017 during the termination of a project driven investigation that ensued in October 2016.
