Thabo Nohashe (23) and Bronwen Bandile Qongqo (26) have made a brief appearance at the Athlone Magisrate’s Court on Tuesday in connection with the murder of Constable Amanda Ladlokova and wounding of her colleague in November 2016.
The officers had just finished serving a protection order at an address in Philippi when they were approached with a similar complaint in the same neighbourhood, on their way to assist, they were allegedly ambushed by three armed suspects who shot them at close range, killing Ladlokova instantly, the colleague, a Sergeant, survived the ordeal and was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
The two were arrested by a multidisciplinary team consisting of the HAWKS and SAPS Public Order members on Sunday in Philippi and Mitchells Plain respectively, bringing the total number of suspects arrested to three. The first suspect to be arrested was a 19-year-old Ashwin Kennedy who was nabbed in November.

The three accused are expected to appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court on the 3rd of January 2017 for bail application.
