Investigations on a recent cash in transit robbery in Mitchells Plain has lead to the arrest of two guards aged 37 and 38 shortly after reporting for duty on Friday morning in Cape Town.
The alleged robbery occurred late last month at Town Centre, Mitchells Plain, when a cash van was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash, crew and driver were reportedly accosted by unknown number of suspects and robbed of firearms as well as bags containing cash before suspects fled the scene.
No shots were fired, no injuries sustained at the time. Members from the Hawks armed with leads on the case descended at the headquarters of the well-known Security Company in Milnerton and arrested the pair.
They are expected to appear at the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court on Monday the 15th to face charges relating to armed robbery.
