NORTHERN CAPE – Riaan Malgas (31), Mothusi Joel Tshibithi (36) and Albert Mosimanyane (53) appeared at Kuruman Magistrates Court on charges of possession of ivory on yesterday.
The three were arrested on Friday, 8 December 2017, at Kuruman Airport after the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime unit swiftly acted on information about suspects in possession of two Elephant tusks.
Malgas and Tshibithi were both granted R5000 bail, while Mosimanyane’ s bail was postponed due to another pending matter. Mosimanyane is out on bail on a separate Ivory case, where he and other suspects were arrested for possessing ivory on the N14 road between Upington and Olifantshoek on Tuesday last week.
He is expected to appear alongside other suspects on both cases in Olifantshoek and Kuruman Courts respectively on the 14 and 15 December 2017.
