West Rand Flying Squad members acted tactically and intelligently when they followed up on information of robbery suspects.
Today, at approximately 11h55, members followed up on information of a grey Peugeot 308 that was taken during the robbery in Stormill, Florida.
The information led members to Swaniville in Kagiso where the car was recovered. Upon searching the two suspects and the cars, police found two unlicensed firearms, a pistol and a rifle, and magazines fully loaded with live ammunition.
The suspects aged 25 and 30 were arrested and charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition as well as possession of suspected stolen vehicle.
The Provincial Commissioner of the police in Gauteng Lieutenant General Elias Mawela commended the members for their persistence and vigour they have shown when performing their duties. “It is through police of this calibre and enthusiasm that crime can be brought to its minimal in our province. This large number of ammunition recovered matches the number of lives that might have been lost. It is job well done by these committed members” said Lieutenant General Mawela
The suspects are expected to appear in court in due course.
