A police killing suspect who was on the Hawks’ radar tried to continue his police killing spree when he was cornered by the members of the Hawks and K9 unit in Pietermaritzburg on Monday night.
The Hawks received information that the dangerous 21 year old, Siyabonga “Mamba” Ndlovu, was driving along the Kranskop road outside Greytown. On trying to stop his vehicle the suspect started shooting at the Hawks and upon returning fire, one suspect was fatally wounded on the scene while the other was critically wounded.
Two firearms, a box full of live ammunition, a wallet with police badge as well as an undisclosed amount of money was found in possession of the suspects.
The suspects were wanted for a string of cases including the killing of a police officer and a security guard in Mbazwana, an attempted murder in Empangeni, motor vehicle hijacking in Richards Bay, an attempted murder of a municipal officer in Greytown, car hijacking in Greytown as well as the attempted murder of a police officer who was shot seven times in Rietvlei. His suspected accomplice is under heavy police guard in hospital.
Hawks National Head Lieutenant General Mthandazo Ntlemeza and KZN Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant-General Mmamonnye Ngobeni congratulated the police for their sterling work in arresting the suspects.

Our heartfelt appreciation to all communities who continue to provide valuable information that aid in the apprehension of this dangerous criminals. We hope that these arrests will bring relief to the grieving families of our police officers and other affected families.”
